How to Add Google Authorship to your Content?

  Since the day Google took steps of introducing Google Authorship, almost all the blogs and website owners started linking their contents with it. Google authorship is a way to create profiles on the google+ along with profile picture, a short biography and other basic information about an author / writer. But why is google authorship necessary? Well if this question is striking your mind then let me tell you that google authorship feature allows the users get their contents and articles recognized. It is also useful in gifting a good ranking to the blogs and websites. I must say the survival of a blog or website is something very tough if the authorship accounts of all the writers have not been created. It also help you protect your content from copycats and plagiarism.

How to set up Google Authorship account?

If you are not familiar with the process of creating google authorship account, then not to worry just follow these simple steps and get it done.
  • First of all you need to create a gmail.com ID with a Google+ account.
  • Once you are done with creating gmail and google + accounts, then next step is to make sure that your google + name is matching with the byline of your articles and blog posts you are writing. Even I must say the spelling of your name should match on the two ends because consistency is what would help you rank the website perfectly.
  • Next you would have to link your google + profile with the domain, you’ll have to create an email address with your domain name something like (you@yourdomain.com) and will have to verify it via your Google account, however, if you don’t have that email then just add Google’s profile link to your website with rel=”author” attribute.
  • Insert any of your good looking and professional impacting image into the link of your blog where Google + profile is written.
  • Once this is done, then link back your blog with your e-mail’s google + profile and write the name of the blog where the “Contributor” is written.
Before moving forward, you can check how the picture of a webmaster looks like after successfully doing all the steps, Here is mine which shows my picture, my Google+ profile link+circles and my website content altogether in the search result page on Google:

Important steps to take:

Step 1: If you have email address on your domain, so you can verify it using this link:
Step 2: If you don’t have a branded email address with your domain name then use this method to connect your website with your Google+ profile:
Step 3: Now after you have added your Google+ link to your website with rel=Author then come back to your Google+ profile and add your site/blog to the “Contribute to” section in your About setting as showing in below image:

Integration of Google Authorship:

With the passage of time, lots of people have initiated their blogs and websites and want to see them ranking good, but until or unless the strategies laid down by google, are not followed properly, the survival of a blog or website is not possible in the world wide web. Whether you like it or not but each and every integration step and strategy of google has to be followed to get ranked higher. Various CMS companies urge the blogs and professional websites to maintain and integrate their google authorship accounts.
It is due to the reason that since the authorship launched, google and other search engines rank the websites whose contents are authored and properly marked up. This greatly integrates the name of the author or writer who has produced a specific content or written an article. Such a content or article is better ranked as the author’s name and picture is displayed in the search results.

Benefits of Google Authorship:

It won’t be wrong to say that without google authorship account, an author’s thumbnail online presence gets risked. Also it does not benefit the blog or website to get ranked. We obtain the following benefits from google authorship.
  • It helps us search a specific author’s name and see his picture.
  • It leads google to rank the website higher as google is really supportive for the blogs and websites which implement and integrate its strategies properly.
  • It also marks up the news, online publications, articles and posts to let us know who has actually written these contents.
  • It also helps in tagging the contents properly by connecting the articles directly to the authors and writers.
  • The followers and likes are increased with an authorship account and the readers find it to be possible to read their favorite author’s writings and searching his articles on the internet.
Check your Google Authorship Status here:
Just enter your website/blog name in the above tool and check whether it’s appearing in the search results or not, if it’s not showing up then you can observe the errors and fix them instantly.

Google Tips to Optimize International Websites

International Websites

Have you ever considered delivering your content for multiple regions and in multiple languages? More and more websites are going international (being made available in multiple languages) these days, and you can easily see why. The broader the audience, the better. And unless you have a region specific website, there's no reason why you should not go international. However, there's a lot more to it than just translation, as emphasised by these quick tips from Google for internationalization.

Recommended: Should you blog in other languages?

1. Change your markup instead of your style sheets

Learn where to use markup and where to use CSS for internationalization (shortened to i18nafter the starting character i, and the 18 character spaces between the first and the last n). Things like language are inherent to the content present on page. So in this case, markup should be used for i18n. You can't always rely on CSS. So use attributes like lang and dir (for direction) with the html tag as shown below.

<html lang="en" dir="ltr">

Note: In some cases, i18n markup might not be supported by the markup language, as is the case with XML. In such cases, CSS may be used.

2. Use a single CSS file

When using different languages and directions (LTR or RTL), do not use a separate style sheet for each locale. Use a single CSS file, and bundle together existing CSS rules with their international counterparts. A single file makes it easier to maintain things, and only a single file needs to be loaded. Consider a scenario where the default CSS file loaded, but the international file failed to load. A single file approach would be better in that case.

3. Use [dir='rtl'] attribute selector

A language can either have an RTL (Right to Let) or LTR (Left to Right) directionality. RTL directionality requires different markup than LTR. So you can use the [dir='rtl'] attribute selector in this case. For example;

aside {   float: right;}[dir='rtl'] aside {   float: left;}

4. Look carefully at position properties

As in the example above, you often need to reverse or mirror the position properties for RTL and LTR languages. For example, what's aligned left in LTR should be aligned right in RTL. So you should look at all the position-related properties for LTR, and mirror them for RTL. These include margins, padding, text-align, float, clear, and so on. There are tools out there as well that do the job for you, such as CSSJanos .

5. Look closely at the details

Just like with CSS positioning properties, you might want to mirror some other details as well, such as box-shadow for images, text-shadow for text, arrows, background, markers, and so on. Same goes for JavaScript positioning and animations.

Another very important aspect is the fonts and font sizes. A font size for one language might seem adequate, but it may be too small for other languages. For example, Arabic texts usually need to be bigger than English texts because they're difficult to see in a smaller font.

So keep an eye out for details, and feel free to contact us if there's a problem. We'd love to help. Cheers :)

Add Facebook Like Button Below Post Titles - New

Like buttonI previously shared a Facebook Like button that included a send button by default. One of the problems I noticed with it was the load time. I then shifted to this new like button which loads like a flash at my internet connection speed. If you wish to add this new like button code just below the post titles of your blogger blogs then follow these easy steps:

Adding Facebook Like Button To Blogger

  1. Go To Blogger > Design > Edit HTML
  2. Backup your template
  3. Click the "Expand Widgets Templates" Box
  4. Search for this,
<data:post.body/>
    5.    Just above it paste the code below,
<iframe allowTransparency='true' expr:src='&quot;http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=&quot; + data:post.url + &quot;&amp;layout=button_count&amp;show_faces=false&amp;width=100&amp; action=like&amp;font=arial&amp;colorscheme=light&quot;' frameborder='0' scrolling='no' style='border:none; overflow:hidden; width:100px; height:20px;'/>
     6.   Save your template and you are done!

Visit your blog to see it working just fine just below post titles. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

How To Gather Thousands of Traffic Catchy Ideas for your Content?

Generating traffic catchy ideas for your content

The secret to becoming a great content writer is to produce great content. Pretty straightforward, yes? What determines the traffic hits for your content is the topic. This 'topic' part is the most important one and also the first and foremost thing to decide before the actual writing. A content writer would always wish to acquire a constant source of unique and interesting topics for him to write on, but such a source is naturally not available. This is why generating ideas that can grab you an ample amount of traffic is the hardest step in online content writing. But there are solutions to every issue right? Let’s take a look at a few tips that can help you in generating traffic catchy ideas for your content.

1. Brainstorm:

Brainstorming is one technique used in writing that actually helps a lot. For content writers, it can generate several ideas for a topic. What you need to do is write down the subject of interest or your core topic on the top of a page and then write all that you can think of about that topic. You may even write phrases or draw images but make sure everything that comes to your mind about that particular topic is written on the page. When you’re done, you analyze the words and phrases and generate a creative topic. Brainstorming helps you in identifying the several unique aspects that you can approach a topic with and hence makes the ideological step of your writing easier.

2. Use Social Media:

The social media networking websites like Facebook get almost everything shared on them and all sorts of discussions made on them. By logging on to Facebook from a researcher’s point of view, you can actually gather a lot of intel about what’s hot and what’s not. You can also check the reviews of various people about a particular subject which can help you in narrowing down your search for idea generation.

3. Check the latest trends:

An old and obsolete topic is not welcomed by many. You need to make sure what you write on, is what’s hot in the market these days. You can use a lot of different platforms to analyze for what is being discussed the most currently about your subject of interest. You will naturally come up with many ideas for your topic and the traffic would naturally be attracted to the owing to the fact that the topic is modern and recent.

4. Interview your target audience:

One fine way of knowing what attracts the audience is going and asking them this question. You can casually, discuss about a subject with random people from your target audience just to know about their thoughts and preferences which will help you in identifying what needs to be written on. Google might be a really good tool for research but getting live opinion from people has its own advantages. Use them to the fullest so as to generate effective and creative plus essential ideas for your content writing.

5. Actively participate in forums:

A forum is a place where people get to make discussions about a particular something. You cannot go interview your whole target audience, can you? However, an easy way of interacting with them is via forums. Participate in forums, give your opinions, respond to others’ and also see how others respond to your opinions. You can get to learn a lot of stuff about a particular subject with these discussions and that will naturally open up your mind and make it easier for you to determine what to write on.

6. Stalk other’s work:

Now I'm not talking about simply stealing other’s ideas as that is never recommended. The purpose of this stalking should be to identify what others are writing about a particular subject. This is generally the most helpful approach as it makes things pretty clear to you but you should not go for it all the time. Once you get to know what others discussing about a subject, you can wither discuss your own opinion about it or pick up a similar aspect of that subject to write on.

7. Use Google Search suggestions:

Google Search is technically a writer’s very good friend. But here we’re specifically talking about the Google Searching robot which can help you in identifying what’s hot. The search suggestions list is based on what is searched the most about a particular topic. You can actually try that out to generate traffic catchy and important ideas for your content. Just type a phrase on Google search and let Google tell you what’s important about it.

8. Observe the electronic and print media:

The electronic and print media like the Television and newspapers, respectively, can increase your knowledge about subject a lot. Also, the topics and ideas presented there are very proper and essential as they are naturally meant for a large audience. They can help you in identifying various unique and interesting aspects of a particular subject which you can write on later. You may also check old newspaper and observe the trends and patterns used there and apply them to your writing.

9. Newsjacking:

The process of newsjacking is to extract various unique ideas from a news that you can write on. This is mainly used by journalists while writing newspaper headlines. You will see that quite often, an important topic is not approached directly but from an indirect and unique perspective. You need to take a constructive angle of a topic and write on it. An interesting and compelling idea will naturally attract more traffic than a plain and straightforward one.

10. Jot down ideas for future reference:

While doing any of the above procedures of even if you’re doing nothing at all, but suddenly an idea comes to your mind, write that down. Keep a proper notepad for this purpose. You can later review and analyze your notebook to get assistance in generating several creative and innovative ideas. We tend to forget things after a while and its best to write them down. An idea may not appear really appealing at some time, but later with a more open mind, you might be able to produce a great content out of it.

Got any tips of your own? Feel free to share in the comments section below. Peace :)

How To Check For Duplicate Content Copied From Your Site?

Duplicate Content is bad!
As a blogger or content creator, or even a SEO, you always run the risk of getting your online content ripped off and copied. It's a risk because even though search engines might be getting smarter at detecting the original source of some duplicate content, it isn't always easy. And there's no guarantee that the original source will be determined every time, and the duplicated content penalized. Not only do you end up competing against your 'own content' so to speak, search engines also try to eliminate duplicate copies of some content, which could result in your content's elimination altogether. Here are a few ways you can check for multiple copies of your content elsewhere on the internet.

There are many ways to find duplicate content. But doing so isn't as easy as it might seem. For one, there's the sheer number of websites that might be copying your content, and for another, search queries are often limited to a certain number of words, with the less significant prepositions like "in" "or" "and" etc not counted. So simply copying a piece of your content and pasting it as a Google Search query won't always do the trick. Here's what you can do.

Quoted search queries

Many beginners don't know this, but if you enclose a search query in Google Search with quotation marks, Google will specifically search for that whole string. Ordinarily, it only searches for keywords. For example, if I search for find duplicate content on Google, it will show me most relevant results that have all three keywords, or a combination of them in any order or any number of them. However, if I search for "find duplicate content", it will search for results that have the exact string "find duplicate content" in them.

Using this technique, you can copy some text from your content, and paste it in Google Search (enclosed with quotation marks). This way, you can find exactly matching content. Doing the same thing without the quotation marks won't be any good, because Google will only search for any combination of the words in the search string.

Use the intitle operator

If someone is blatantly copying your content, then chances are that they might have copied the title tag as it is. You can search Google specifically for titles by using the intitle search operator. For example, if I were to search for duplicate content of this very post, I'd use the following Google Search query.

intitle:"How To Check For Duplicate Content Copied From Your Site?"

Now in all fairness, some webpages might coincidentally have the same title as yours with different content. But if there are any rogues out there copying your exact content, this is where you'll find them.

Google Webmaster Tools

Sometimes, when Google indexes pages that it detects contain duplicate content, it notifies the original author about them. But you can only avail this feature if you have a verified Google Webmaster Tools account. Once verified, you will start receiving messages for critical issues, such as problems found with your site, or duplicate content discovered elsewhere on the internet. In theory, this is very good. but in practice, Google isn't the best for this job. It might take some time for Google to discover duplicate content, and it won't always send you a message. But for starters, it might be a useful features. Just don't put much stock into it.

The inurl search operator

Just like the intitle operator, the inurl operator can be used to search for duplicated content. For example;

inurl:how_to_check_for_duplicate_content

This is a sure way to catch bots, because content copied automatically will mostly also include similar or same URL structure. People might sometimes change the title of a post after a bot has copied it from somewhere, just to throw the original content creator off-trail. But they won't always change the URL, which makes them easy prey!

Got any better techniques that are fast and simple, yet effective at finding duplicate content? Let us know in the comments section below. Peace :)
